A user-friendly airport with an easy layout and modern facilities, Tampa International Airport is located a few miles to the west of the city centre of Tampa. The airport serves more than 15 million passengers, transporting them to over 50 domestic destinations and many other international destinations each year.
ATMs are located on every level of the building while level 3 is home to full banking services and exchange facilities. The airport also features post boxes, stamp machines, baby changing facilities and a chapel. A first-aid service is also available.
For those wishing to shop at the airport, Tampa International Airport is equipped with numerous shops including popular local outlets such as Florida Market, Mindworks, Sunglass International, Tie Rack and Ron Jon Surf Shop. The Marriot hotel nearby also claims to be a shopping paradise for waiting passengers.
There are a wide range of eateries on offer at the airport as well as at the Marriot hotel. The airport features many fast food outlets such as Burger King, Taco Bell Express, TGI Friday's and Starbucks. For an upmarket meal, walk to the Marriott's CK's Revolving Rooftop Restaurant and cocktail lounge.
Business facilities are provided at the Marriott hotel, which is connected to the terminal building. Facilities include computer workstations, telephones, fax machines, internet access, photocopying and printing services. Shipping services are also available.
Transportation at Tampa International Airport
The airport offers a number of transport options for accessing downtown. The Sarasota-Tampa Express links directly to the city centre and Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport. Buses can be found at the bus stop outside Baggage Reclaim and run to downtown Tampa and other major areas in the Tampa locality.
A free shuttle bus service is also provided at the airport to take you to the city centre. The shuttle bus stops at International Plaza shopping mall. Other options include shared vans, courtesy hotel pick ups and limousines.
For a comfortable ride at your own convenience, go to the taxi desks situated at either end of the Arrivals area. Yellow Cab (tel: +1 813 253 0121) and United Cab (tel: +1 813 253 2424) are the only two taxi companies that operate taxis from the airport.
Parking at Tampa International Airport
The airport offers countless parking spaces in multi-level garages and surface car parks. As spaces are aplenty, booking in advance isn't necessary. All parking lots have excellent security.
Apart from normal parking options, the airport also provides cell phone parking, which is a free waiting area suitable for dropping off or picking up passengers. Another good option is valet parking, which is available 24 hours at the airport.
