A bustling gateway to Lee, Charlotte, Hendry, Collier and Glades counties, Southwest Florida International Airport handles more than five million passengers each year. One of the top 60 busiest airports in the country, the airport serves various destinations in America such as Boston, Chicago and Atlanta.
The airport has one single terminal, fully-equipped with facilities for passengers. ATMs are scattered throughout both levels while a bureau de change is located on the upper level of the terminal. Apart from financial facilities, there is also a lost-and-found service and postal services.
A wide range of gift shops are situated on the upper floor in the departures area, allowing passengers to do as much last-minute shopping as they want. Many children's stores will also keep your little ones busy. However, there is no duty-free shopping available at the airport.
The airport boasts various eateries throughout the terminal. The most popular choices include Starbucks, Burger King, California Pizza Kitchen, Pizza Hut and many more. Full-service restaurants are on offer here.
The business centre at the airport provides computers, faxing and photocopying services. Wi-Fi internet can be accessed throughout the terminal. Optionally, business flyers can also head to the nearby Wynstar Inn & Suites, which also offers business and conference facilities.
Transportation at Southwest Florida International Airport
One of the most economical ways to get to downtown Fort Myers and major destinations is by using Fort Myers' public bus services, which run to the city very regularly from 06:00 to 22:00.
Many hotels in the area offer courtesy pick-ups at the airport, which is a convenient way to get to your hotel free-of-charge. Hotels that provide this service include Best Western Airport Inn, Comfort Suites, Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn Select, Country Inn & Suites and Homewood Suites.
Taxis are waiting at the ground transportation booth located between the terminal and the short-term car park. On-demand shared taxis are, however, not available at the airport.
Parking at Southwest Florida International Airport
Plenty of parking spaces are provided at Southwest Florida International Airport in the three car parks, with both short-term and long-term parking options available. The short-term car park is located in front of the terminal building while the long-term car park is at the west end of the short-term car park.
The airport also offers economy parking option for those wishing to park for a longer period. This car park can be found at the south side of the airport entrance. The economy car park is connected to the terminal by shuttle buses.
