Operating a number of flights to US destinations and Mexico, Oakland International Airport is a busy air hub in San Francisco. Serving the San Francisco Bay area, the airport provides full facilities for passengers.
There are two terminals at the airport, both boasting several ATMs and equipped with Wi-Fi internet, which can be accessed throughout the airport. Laptop points are available in both terminals, while bureaux de change are scattered throughout the terminals, accommodating those wishing to change money.
There are many shops located in both terminals, with most shops situated in Terminal 1. Passengers can expect to find a wide range of eateries including confectionary shops, healthy juice booths, numerous fast food chains as well as full-service restaurants.
Shopping opportunities are aplenty, with the Oakland Duty Free shop in Terminal 1 and many gift shops in both terminals. Branches of See's Candies are available in Terminal 1, perfect for those with a sweet tooth.
If you require business facilities, the nearest business centre is located at the Hilton Oakland Airport Hotel, situated near the airport. However, there are laptop points in both terminals.
Transportation at Oakland International Airport
Various ground transportation options are provided at the airport, with efficient connections to Oakland City, San Francisco and neighbouring areas. Passengers can hop on the BART light rail service, which provides fast connections to the city. This transport option is very popular as it provides a speedy transfer to destinations within the city.
Optionally, AC Transit operates buses to Oakland locations regularly. Buses are reliable, with Line 50 leaving the airport every 15 minutes during the day and every 30 minutes in the evening. Line N connects the airport and downtown Oakland and San Francisco.
For a comfortable and private ride, you can opt to use one of the airport taxi services which are managed by Friendly Cab or Veteran's Cab. Taxis can be found outside the terminal buildings.
Parking at Oakland International Airport
The airport has more than enough parking spaces for passengers. There are more than 8,500 spaces available throughout the airport's three parking lots, providing both long-term and short-term parking options.
There are shuttle buses running between all terminals and parking lots. The airport also offers a special service that upgrades drivers to the next available parking option if their preferred parking option is full. Valet parking and disabled parking are also available.
