Located about 23 miles north of Houston, Houston George Bush International Airport is one of the country's busiest airports, providing flights to more than 150 destinations around the world.
The airport has five passenger terminals. Terminals A, B and C offer domestic flights while Terminal D serves international flights. Terminal E, the newest addition, mainly operates domestic flights.
All terminals are fully-equipped with facilities for passengers, with Terminal C and D being the most equipped. ATMs can be found everywhere in the airport while bureaux de change are located in terminals C and D only. All terminals are conveniently connected by free shuttle services.
Restaurants, cafés and fast food outlets are situated in all terminals as well as bookshops, newsagents, gift shops and stores. Terminals A and B also boast jewellery stores for passengers wishing to buy precious gifts for home. Enthusiastic shoppers will particularly like terminals C and D as these two terminals are home to duty-free shopping.
Mother and child facilities can be found in all ladies' toilets while shoe shining services are available throughout all terminals. There are disabled toilets and TDD telephones to accommodate passengers with special needs.
Business facilities can be found at Houston Airport Marriott. There are 39 meeting rooms and full-on amenities. A free underground train links the airport and the hotel.
Transportation at Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport
The airport's buses connect the airport with various destinations in town and its neighbouring areas, while the Houston Metropolitan Transit Authority (METRO) also operates buses into the city. The bus terminal is located outside Terminal C.
Motorists can get access to the airport by using one of these routes: Highway 59, Interstate 45, Hardy Toll Road or Sam Houston Toll Road (Beltway 8).
Taxis are waiting outside all terminals and are usually hailed by airport staff. Most hotels provide courtesy pick-up and drop-off services so you might want to check with your hotel before your arrival for a free ride.
Parking at Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport
The airport provides more than 25,000 parking spaces for passengers. Terminal C features covered parking while others have garages. The security is quite strict so be prepared to be searched by security personnel if you plan to enter via terminals A, B or C.
There's also an economy parking option provided at the corner of Greens Road and John F Kennedy Boulevard. Free shuttle services connect the parking lot to all terminals.
