Situated about two miles south of Anchorage, the airport has two terminals, serving international and domestic passengers respectively. The North Terminal caters to international flyers while the South Terminal is dedicated to domestic flyers.
Despite a compact size, Anchorage Ted Stevens International Airport is equipped with good facilities for passengers. Both terminals feature a number of restaurants and bars, while ATMs are scattered throughout. A bureau de change and a post office can each be found in both terminals.
The airport also provides baggage storage in the South Terminal, and a lost property office is also located here. Small shops can be found in both terminals, while shopping enthusiasts will enjoy checking out brand name goods at the duty free shop in the North Terminal.
Business facilities are not provided at the airport however Millennium Alaskan Hotel nearby offers full business facilities including fax and photocopying facilities and seven meeting rooms.
Other facilities include a barber shop and the Alaska Native Medical Centre in the South Terminal. Facilities for travellers who need special assistance are also available. It is recommended that you contact your airline in advance if you require a wheelchair or assistance.
Transportation at Anchorage Ted Stevens International Airport
With a very convenient location about two miles from the city, the airport is easily accessible via a variety of transport means. Anchorage Ted Stevens International Airport is clearly signposted from the city centre, making it easy for motorists to find their way to the airport.
Optionally, passengers can take a bus from the city centre to the airport. The Municipality of Anchorage People Mover bus serves downtown Anchorage, the Diamond Centre and the airport. Eagle River Shuttle (tel: +1 907 694 8888), Shuttle Man (tel: +1 907 677 8537) and Talkeetna Shuttle (tel: +1 888 288 6008) offer door-to-door shuttle services.
Taxi stands are located outside both terminals. Those exiting the South Terminal can find a taxi stand at the ground transportation island, while a stand is also situated directly outside the Arrivals Hall at the North Terminal.
Parking at Anchorage Ted Stevens International Airport
The airport provides both short and long-term parking services for passengers, operated by Republic Parking. Short-term parking is located at both terminals, while a multi-storey car park can be found at the South Terminal. Long-term parking is also situated close to the South Terminal.
Cheques and credit cards are accepted at the airport for parking fees. The first 30-minutes of parking at both terminals are free-of-charge. A Cell Phone Parking Lot is also available for those waiting to pick up passengers, located a 2-minute walk from both terminals.
